Frequently Asked Questions
Most couples write to me with the same handful of questions, so the answers are collected here. If yours is not among them, write to contact@humanartist.com or call (440) 719-9299 and I will answer it myself.
Booking and availability
Most couples reach me about 12 months before the wedding. Some book 16 months out, and others come to me with 6 months to spare, so if your date is closer than a year, ask anyway. Saturdays from June through October fill first. Tell me your date and venue and I will tell you whether it is open.
With a conversation. You write to me, we find 20 or 30 minutes to talk about the day you are planning, and we both decide whether we are a good fit. If we are, I send the details and the booking agreement, and we plan the rest together over the months that follow.
I live and work in Cleveland, and I photograph weddings throughout Ohio and in other states as well. Travel within 50 miles of Cleveland carries no travel cost. Beyond that, travel is usually $1 per mile. When the trip takes more than 2 hours, couples provide hotel accommodations for 2 nights.
Yes to both. An engagement session is a good way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding. For proposals I work discreetly, in photography, film, or both, and we plan the location and timing with whoever is proposing.
Photography, film, and coverage
Both, together or separately. I have been photographing weddings since 2013, and the photography and cinema sides of the studio work as one team, so a couple who wants both gets one plan for the day instead of two vendors to coordinate.
Clean color, intentional composition, and close attention to the ceremony, the portraits, and the small details that get lost in a busy day. Most of a wedding is documentary, which describes the result, because I am reading the room the entire day and moving ahead of it. By the time a moment arrives, I have already chosen the angle and the light.
Yes. Portraits are where I am most hands-on. I set the position, the light, how close you stand, and where your hands rest, and then I stop talking so the expression belongs to the two of you. Most couples tell me afterward that it was easier than they expected.
Coverage grows with the collection. The Precious is one photographer, The Grand adds an assistant photographer, and The Magnificent has two photographers and an assistant photographer. A second photographer can also be added to any collection as an add-on, and all of them come from a regular team that knows how I work.
Clear audio of the ceremony and the speeches, and patient editing that follows the day in order. The highlight film runs 3 to 5 minutes. The Grand includes a documentary film of 60 to 90 minutes, and The Magnificent includes a feature film of 60 to 120 minutes.

The wedding day and delivery
Yes, and I build it with you. After you book, you complete a short questionnaire about the day, and I turn your answers into a full schedule with what happens at each hour, your family formals organized by group, and a contact sheet for every vendor. I add a 30-minute setup buffer before the ceremony and before the reception, because those are the two places a day tends to run behind.
Always. The timeline and contact sheet go to your planner, florist, DJ, and venue coordinator, so everyone is working from the same page and I know who to find when something shifts.
Your photographs arrive within 21 days of the wedding. If you would like a preview sooner, ask and I will send one within a few days. Wedding films take 12 to 18 weeks.
You receive your gallery, and we talk about albums and prints when you are ready. Many couples wait a few months, and that is fine.
