She loves a good strength training session at the gym and he loves a good beer. Together, Elise and Patrick keep each other in shape and savoring life all the time.
These Chicago dwellers decided to come home to Cleveland, to the house where Elise grew up, for their big wedding in the backyard. While the day went through numerous transformations and adaptations, the celebration that this family shared was nothing short of a magical miracle. The way in which both family and community rallied around Elise and Patrick was a beautiful and uplifting sight for us present. What a day!
The morning began for Patrick and his groomspeople at Quintana’s Barbershop in Shaker Heights. This mysterious Cleveland destination took care of the hairstyles AND liquid spirits all morning long. Everyone left the salon looking and feeling ready for the big day ahead.
Back in the Cleveland suburbs, Elise and her bridesmaids were busy with the finishing touches to their hair and makeup, masterfully applied by MUA and cosmetologist Jessica Binggeli and team.
There were a number of first looks that day, kicked off by the one that happened when the father of the bride, freshly ready to go in his suit and tie, stepped out of the master bathroom to find Elise and her mom dressed in their wedding attire. After Elise’s bridesmaids had the chance to catch a glimpse of Elise in her gown, too, everyone picked up their fresh-cut bouquets from Roses for Weddings, Inc., and headed off to THE first look. It was such a sweet, quiet moment between Elise and Patrick and a great way to start their day together.
The bridal party hopped on the Mrs. Trolley bus and headed to the first photo stop: Olesia’s Taverne of Richfield. This newly renovated restaurant and venue was the perfect place to capture some really elegant photos of our bridal couple. The grand fireplace just inside the main entrance and the historic mural on the opposite wall were two architectural highlights that created stunning backdrops for our photos. We love the penny-inlaid bar top in the basement speakeasy, one of the many gorgeous details.
After a stop at the Cleveland Museum of Art, it was time to head back home for the ceremony. Maria Kovacevich and her wedding planning dream team made sure that every detail from the arrangement of the chiavari chairs on the lawn to the care and safety of guests was attended to expertly and efficiently.
Following happy tears, handwritten vows, a kiss, and lots of celebration, guests were ushered to their seats inside the reception tent. It was one of those hot summer day in Ohio, so ice-cold Fat Head’s brews and endless signature cocktails–flavored with lemon juice, raspberry liqueur, and a splash of champagne–were on demand.
After sweet stories about Elise and Erica’s adventures as kids together and Patrick’s journey through adolescence in his big brother TJ’s footsteps (until now when Patrick was first to be married!), it was time for a delicious meal from Waterloo Catering and beautiful assorted desserts.
As the sun moved across the sky to the tunes of Selective Sound Entertainment’s DJ Jay R, we made sure to catch a few photos with the ever-shifting colors of the dreamy evening sky.
We were absolutely mesmerized by the joy, optimism, and pride that surrounded Elise and Patrick’s wedding day. Their parents were elated to witness the strong and kind couple their children had become, and everyone else was thrilled to see that such a dream was possible amidst so much change and uncertainty in the world around them.
Patrick and Elise’s wedding day proves that teamwork and hope are incredible forces. And when present in a family, marriage, and community; magic can happen!
