We started at the fountain downtown, right as the evening light was starting to soften. She showed up with two very different outfits in mind, a black gown for the first half and jeans for the second, and both turned out to be exactly her.
Most of the session was simple. Sit here, look toward the water, forget the camera is there for a second. That’s really the whole method. We give some direction on where to look and how to sit, and then we wait for the moment where the instructions stop mattering and someone just starts being themselves. You can see it in the photos where she’s laughing at nothing in particular.
That’s the balance we aim for on every senior session: documentary storytelling with editorial direction, enough guidance to get a beautiful frame, enough patience to let the real person show up in it.
