A Wedding in Two Ceremonies at Mapleside Farms

Some weddings ask a lot of a single day. This one asked for two ceremonies, two outfit changes, and a guest list that danced through both a baraat and a hora, all under a late June sun that never let up. Varsha and Danny handled it like people who had been waiting a long time for exactly this.

The morning belonged to the Hindu ceremony. Red and gold under the mandap, henna still dark on Varsha’s hands, Danny arriving with a crowd of dancing groomsmen that set the tone for the rest of the day. By afternoon, the couple had traded that color for ivory and navy, standing under a chuppah for vows in a different tradition entirely. Two ceremonies in one day is a lot to plan around, and it’s exactly where documentary storytelling with editorial direction earns its keep. We stayed close enough to catch every unscripted reaction, then used the quieter windows between events to build the portraits that needed more room to breathe, the walk toward the pond, the two of them under a tree at the edge of the property looking out at the orchard rows.

Mapleside Farms gave us a lot to work with. Rolling hills, a barn built from reclaimed wood, string lights that came alive once the sun finally dropped behind the tree line. By the time the reception hit full swing, with Danny hoisted on a chair during the hora and Varsha laughing so hard she could barely hold her bouquet, the heat of the day had turned into something closer to momentum.

Weddings like this one are a study in organization as much as emotion. Two families, two traditions, one very long and very warm day, and somehow none of it felt rushed. That’s not an accident. It’s what happens when a couple, their planner, and their vendors all move in the same direction.
