We usually do a little bit of celebrating on Ukrainian Christmas Eve, January 6. This year was extra-special as we sang in church, dined and toasted with friends, and celebrated well into the evening. We were capturing the wedding day of a really exceptional couple, Corbin and Megan in Akron, Ohio.

Almost exactly one year ago, Megan, her mom Melanie, and Corbin stumbled into our bridal show booth at the IX Center in Cleveland. It can be difficult to make meaningful connections in a busy, bustling place like that, but somehow we all made a lasting impression on one another as we shared stories and brainstormed about ceremony venues.

As we fast forward to last Saturday, we remember all the beautiful moments of the day—arriving to the cozy home of Megan’s mom (all done up for Christmas and bursting with irresistible rustic charm), meeting Megan’s sweet entourage of bridesmaids, finding our handsome groom Corbin in the sacristy at the church, watching Megan’s sister Lina become wildly excited at the sight of Megan in her wedding gown, witnessing the joyful energy of the guests that filled the sanctuary of Historic Saint Bernard Catholic Church, laughing the afternoon away with the bridal party in the lobby of the Akron Art Museum (the bridesmaids’ matching fur boas made the perfect prop!), warming up to the couple’s sweetly choreographed first dance, and busting out into belly giggles during Rosie’s maid of honor speech (she is incredibly funny)…there are too many moments to recount here!

The colors of the day were rich and classic—champagne and deep red—that tastefully appeared in bouquets of red roses and tulips at the ceremony and tastily appeared in cupcake trees of red velvet and butter cream at the reception.

Megan and Corbin are together a busy young couple, building their new life together and hopping states for Megan’s final years in pharmacy school. We wish you the best of luck in all these big adventures ahead!

We are so lucky to have such kind and loving couples as you—the reason why we have the best job in the world. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to photograph your wedding…now hurry up and move back to Ohio!

Cheers to starting off the new year right! To love!
