“Just you and me and God”.

We have been so amazed by the grace and fortitude we’ve witnessed from engaged couples in the midst of the unknown of spring 2020. With regulations and plans and cancellations making their way in and out of wedding day agendas, getting married seemed nearly impossible to us bystanders.

One couple chose to proceed with their special day on their special day. As the plans became more and more condensed, this special bride STILL smiled and hoped for a beautiful day. On May 16, Sarah and Miron were married at Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Barberton, Ohio. The day was absolutely beautiful and warm and sunny, the most perfect spring day of the year so far. Though the celebration was at least 100 people short and missing a few close family members from overseas, what we witnessed all day was powerful and magical. The joy and excitement on Sarah and Miron’s faces from morning til evening were proof that the important pieces of this day remained beautifully intact.

When we arrived to the church that morning, we found the glowing bride finishing up her bridal hair and makeup. Her adorable little flower girl Rebecca smiled and danced about all morning, while we captured photos of all the details and Sarah’s elegant wedding gown. After meeting up with Miron and the gentlemen, it was time for the ceremony. Sarah and Miron met at the main entrance to the church, where the betrothal ceremony began. After the exchanging of rings, their Bishop Milan led the couple up the isle for the marriage celebration. They were crowned the king and queen of their household before heading out of the church with a surprise bubble-machine sendoff.

After a few well-wishes from Sarah’s closest family, a blessing from the bishop, and a champagne toast, it was time to head outside for some portraits in the evening sun. But beforehand, Sarah and Miron were able to get the church hall’s sound system up and running to the sound of Etta James’ “At Last” for a last-minute first dance.

Though Sarah and Miron could not have imagined this version of their wedding day just months ago, the reality of the day that came to be was every bit as magical and memorable and monumental as any wedding day we’ve witnessed. Perhaps even better, because all that mattered was God and each other. Love, joy, and laughter ruled the day; three key players in a fulfilling and unforgettable journey through life together.

Sarah and Miron, we wish you a lifetime of surprises and the courage and creativity to turn any imperfection into something beautiful! May God grant you many happy and blessed years!
