Being a wedding photographer in Ohio, it was a refreshing experience to step aside from my beloved wedding assignments and delve into the mode of pure photo journalism in Oberlin College. Orientation days, as I understand them, is the time to “break the ice”. Before students begin their intellectual endeavors, they dip their toes in the real life of Oberlin. Most students come from out of state of Ohio. Oberlin college also offers days of service as a part of its Orientation program. Students sign up to volunteer on different project to benefit the community of Oberlin. Whether it’s picking up tomatoes or planting trees at George Jones Farm or cleaning, fixing and reorganizing a mountain of bicycles at Bike Co-op each activity introduces and invites you to be a part of Oberlin and its community. Check out some of the photos below. The weather was hot, and the sun was bright — a perfect day to start a new chapter of student life!
